We're excited to announce our next Data Talk, focused on the Resilient Urban Systems & Habitat (RUSH) Initiative, an interactive social and ecosystem platform committed to mapping resilience in record time.
The goal of RUSH is to help everyone understand climate change and health-related threats to our local communities, so action can be taken before disaster strikes.
This talk is your inside look at how RUSH is being developed straight from the founder! Anne-Marie Daniel will give you a behind-the-scenes look and highlight:
How RUSH is being built with open-source software as a shareable, scalable, and flexible tracking tool.
The data visualization and tools being developed to help us take control of our personal and planetary well-being.
The process of prototyping on Southern Vancouver Island and the plans for scaling the platform.
Their "one-stop shop" approach to showcasing demystified data, actionable resources, and community insights.
At RUSH, the team is not the expert, nor are they trying to be. Their goal is to promote tools that support the healing of ecosystems and communities, highlighting the risks and fixes to climate readiness, reconciliation, and our relationship with Nature.
RUSH wants to mobilize everyone, returning health to the unsurrendered territories stewarded by the lək̓ʷəŋən and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, based on the belief that everybody holds a piece of the puzzle.
Whether you're a data professional, AI enthusiast, or simply curious about how tech is transforming our world, this is the perfect opportunity to:

Anne-Marie Daniel
Anne-Marie Daniel is the CEO of NatuR&D and founder of The Resilient Urban Systems & Habitat (RUSH) Initiative, an open-source website of maps where anyone can locate themselves and explore the risks and fixes to long-term health in their neighbourhood – everything from belonging to climate readiness. Prototyping on the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, RUSH is built by youth with open source software with the intention to scale and share. With over 21 community partnerships, including high schools, conservation groups, and Data for Good Vancouver, our goal is rapid resilience in record time.
Anne-Marie’s interest in innovation and worries about our environmental crisis led her to biomimicry in 2006. Biomimicry is the practice of learning from Nature’s 3.8 billion+ years of design experience to create products, processes, and systems by looking to nature’s recipes and strategies, which are time-tested and life-friendly.
NatuR&D supports teams to transform everyday problems into designs that work with Nature. Her career as a mediator with a BFA in Theatre Design, an MSc in Biomimicry and one of almost 100 Biomimicry 3.8 Certified Biomimicry Professionals in the world, her passion is in facilitating conversations and processes so that everyone can play. Also a co-founder and Partner in Roy Group, a leadership development company serving business, government, education and social impact organizations.
